Lu’s Taekwon-Do Kick-A-Thon for Roger’s House
The students of Lu’s Taekwon-Do, Orléans will be kicking up a sweat in their first annual Kick-A-Thon fundraiser. This year, funds raised will benefit Roger’s House.
Established in 1984 by senior Grand Master Phap Lu, the Orléans branch of Lu's Taekwon-Do has grown to become one of Ottawa's premier martial arts schools. The school, known for its high-quality instruction, discipline and focus on families is also home to dozens of provincial, national and world champions. In January 2013, Grand Master Lu passed on the Orléans location to Mr. Joel Denis. Mr. Denis now leads a team of dedicated instructors and assistant instructors who are dedicated to sharing their knowledge with others while giving back to their community.
It was the desire to give back, that was the driving force behind the Kick-A-Thon concept and the partnership with Roger’s House was an easy choice for Denis and his students. ’Our school caters to children and families most of whom are fortunate enough to be in good health,” stated Denis. ’The services offered to families by Roger’s House made them a natural fit for this year’s fundraiser.”
Lu’s Taekwon-Do Orléans students will be collecting pledges leading up to the Kick-A-Thon with the goal of reaching 2000 kicks (or $2000).
’I hope people will come out and show their support for our students and Roger’s House,’ said Mr. Denis. ’I’m sure there will be more than a few sore legs the next day, but I think it’s going to be a great event and we’re going to do our best to put on an exciting show!”
Members of the public are invited to come and watch the event – and maybe even try out a few moves!
