Tremblant's 24h - Mission accomplished! - More than $2 million raised for sick and underprivileged children

Mont-Tremblant, December 9, 2013 — The party was going strong in Tremblant this past weekend. Over the last 3 days, nearly 2,000 participants hit the slopes at Tremblant Resort and travelled laps on foot around the mountain for one sole cause...that of children. With the 24h of Skiing and the 24h on Foot taking place simultaneously for the first time, 1,808 skiers and 150 walkers and runners joined forces to raise as much money as possible for sick and underprivileged children. And once again this year, the goal was reached by the skiers, walkers and runners, raising $2,005,653.

“Above all, I have to thank and congratulate all the participants and those who made this 13th edition such a success, said Patrice Malo, President of the Tremblant 24h Foundation. Tremblant’s 24h of Skiing was created 13 years ago to raise funds for sick and underprivileged children. This year the combined efforts of the 24h of Skiing and the 24h on Foot meant exceeding our goal and raising over 2 million dollars. Along with all the participants, ambassadors and organisers, it is with great joy that I can say MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! So here’s the invitation to the 14th edition!”

All together for the children
As every year, Tremblant’s 24h could rely on an impressive troop of ambassadors that came to support the teams. Mario Tessier, Benoît Gagnon, Philippe Fehmiu, Anne-Marie Withenshaw, Éric Guay, Lianne Laing, Stuntman Stu, Étienne Boulay, Isabelle Racicot and Marie-Claude Sabourin joined the skiers and the 24h on Foot participants along with the foundation representatives Martin Matte, Pierre Bruneau and Paul Doucet.

Note that, each participating team was joined symbolically with one of the 14 sponsored children. “This union helped the skiers, walkers and runners to associate a face with their endeavors that help the thousands of children that benefit from the funds raised during Tremblant’s 24h”, added Simon St-Arnaud, the event Producer. Several other personalities were also present to give a helping hand to the teams and ambassadors, including Patrick Langlois and Richard Turcotte.

Again this year, the event’s program included the legendary Party at the Summit on the Friday evening, as well as several shows at the base of the slopes and in the bars, all weekend long. Artists including Stefie Shock, Antoine Gratton, David Laflèche, Jean-Marc Couture, Hugo Lapointe, Jacques Doucet from Radio Radio, Alex Nevski, Dominique Hudson, Kamikazi, Boogat, Jérôme Charlebois and Kaïn, who closed the Grand Show on Saturday night, that warmed up the crowds and participants.

Significant beneficiaries and partners
The event beneficiaries are the Fondation Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau, Fondation Martin Matte, the Tremblant Foundation and the Ottawa Senators Foundation. Lastly, the event was made possible thanks to the involvement of our valued sponsors including Volkswagen, Manulife Financial and TELUS; who year after year continue to generously donate to Tremblant’s 24h. “TELUS and their 5,500 team members have been supporting Tremblant’s 24h for the past 9 years. Over the duration of this partnership, we have contributed to date, $660,000 toward a cause that is dear to us; the well-being of children; emphasizes Benoit Simard, Vice President of Business Marketing for TELUS. By investing in the development of pediatric care and our children’s health, we are contributing directly to Quebec’s future. It’s our way of expressing our philosophy, We give where we live.”
