| Achievement: | $30,000 raised in 2008 for local autism charities |
Microsoft and the Sens Foundation are proud to announce $30,000 raised at our 5th annual tournament held Monday, June 16th at the Marshes Golf Club. This event has become one of the premier charity tournaments in the city raising an impressive $230,000 in its five-year history.
Participants took to the links and then were treated to a fabulous day that included golf, dinner, and terrific prizes. Special guests, including Ottawa Senators Alumni Jim Kyte and Shaun Van Allen joined in the days activities, lending their support to raising funds for autism.
Being a parent of an autistic child can be very challenging. This event has raised important funds to help support families, provide funds for research, and has raised awareness of autism and the growing needs in our community.

Autism is more common than people think. It touches the lives of many of our co-workers, families, and friends. The Sens Foundation, in partnership with community leader Microsoft, is proud to support such a worthy cause that will assist autistic children and their families in our communities.
Danielle Robinson, President, Sens Foundation
Autism is sometimes described as a thief breaking into your home at night, stealing large portions of your child's mind and personality and leaving behind their bewildered body. It's now become shockingly common. The rate of autism is 15 times higher than it was a decade ago. There are few types of families that require more support - at all levels - than the family raising a child with autism. You quickly see the need for guidance, education, financial support, respite, counselling, understanding from others and, most importantly, therapy.
A sincere thank you to all of our event sponsors and amazing volunteers whose support has made this event such a success.
