Ottawa Senators Foundation announces 2017 SENS Campership Program partners

A $250,000 investment will see more than 1,300 kids experience summer camp

OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators Foundation (@sensfoundation) today revealed the list of 2017 SENS Campership Program funding recipients. Nearly 1,350 children and youth aged 4 to 17, from communities across eastern Ontario and western Quebec will have the opportunity to attend either a residential or day camp at one of 19 supported camp programs by way of a $250,000 Foundation investment. The investment will deliver a total 892,400 camp days for children.

Increased program funding has allowed the Ottawa Senators Foundation to partner with a wide variety of camps including those with a mission of providing children and youth from low-income families with recreational and skill development opportunities in addition to camps which provide specialized programming for children and youth with significant medical needs. Camps with a strong history of delivering programs with projected results in an increased level of self-confidence, strong personal development, physical activity, nutritional awareness and teamwork, leadership and fair play skills were awarded grants.

– Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa Camp Smitty

– Camp BUCKO

– Camp de jour Mutchmore

– Camp Kaleidoscope

– Camp Kennebec

– Camp Misquah

– Camp Quality Eastern Ontario

– Christie Lake Kids Christie Lake Camp

– Gerry Lowe Smiths Falls Day Camp

– RA Camps

– City of Ottawa Youth Camps utilizing a SENS RINK location:

– Sens Brookies Camp

– Sens Youth Camp Alexander

– Sens Youth Camp Britannia

– Sens Lowertown Camp

– uOttawa Gee-Gees Summer Camps

– YMCA Summer Day Camps in Belleville, Brockville and Kingston

“Camp is a place where kids have the opportunity to share new experiences, learn about themselves and make friendships that will last a lifetime,” said Danielle Robinson, president and CEO of the Ottawa Senators Foundation. “Providing children from different backgrounds with an opportunity to take a break from their day-to-day and be kids is something of which we’re very proud.”

Since 2015, the Ottawa Senators Foundation has invested more than $650,000 in the SENS Campership program resulting in more than 3,500 children and youth experiencing summer camp.

The Ottawa Senators Foundation has received funding in support of the SENS Campership Program from community partners including 24h Tremblant, Ottawa House Hunt,  sponsors, donors and Ottawa Senators fans. These organizations and supporters are as passionate as the Ottawa Senators Foundation is about empowering children and youth to reach their full potential.

The evidence is overwhelming: what children and youth do during the critical hours – before and after school, evenings, weekends, summer holidays has a profound impact on their physical, social, emotional and academic development.
