Ottawa Senators Foundation to officially launch Online 50/50 Raffle Draws

Fans across the province can now participate in the draws from the comforts of home

OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators Foundation (@sensfoundation) announced today that they have officially launched their new online 50/50 platform for Ottawa Senators games at Canadian Tire Centre.

Starting on March 7, the new online platform will enhance the current 50/50 raffle program offering by opening it up to Senators fans across the province of Ontario, increasing the number of players, which will lead to more excitement, bigger jackpots and therefore bigger charitable investments and impact for children and youth in our local community.

The Ottawa Senators Foundation is the first charitable organization to launch this new technology solution in Ontario. In its newly released Phase 2 of Charitable Gaming Standards, the AGCO (Alcohol & Gaming Commission of Ontario) has made online 50/50 raffle sales a possibility. The Ottawa Senators Foundation has teamed up with local tech firms, Canadian Bank Note Ltd and Shopify to bring their unique solution to market.

“Improving the lives of children and youth in our community and creating more excitement for our fans is paramount to the Ottawa Senators Foundation and the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club,” said Danielle Robinson, president, and CEO, Ottawa Senators Foundation. “We are fortunate to work with our partners at the AGCO, Canadian Bank Note Ltd. and Shopify who bring technological expertise, confidence, and reliability to make this program possible. With more players, we are confident this will translate to larger jackpots, which will allow the Senators Foundation to have an even great impact in our local community. This program will be a big win-win for everyone involved.“

”CBN is a staunch supporter of the Senators Foundation and the great work it has done in Eastern Ontario and West Quebec to bring better access to and opportunities for social recreation to our youngsters. Charities work hard to raise funds to meet the needs of those they support,” said Ron Arends, CEO of Canadian Bank Note Company, Limited (CBN). “We at CBN are pleased that our Sports and Entertainment division was instrumental in the development of the online 50/50 technology that will enable the Senators Foundation, as well as MLSE Foundation, Jays Care Foundation and other charitable organizations, raise more money for their worthy causes.“

The new platform is combined with the raffles currently happening during Ottawa Senators home games. Fans will now have the ability to puchase their tickets from a seller, online or on their mobile device. Updates on the current prize amounts, winning numbers and claimed jackpots will be posted on the Senators Foundation’s social media channels in addition to the Senators Foundation website.
