Waste Management and Ottawa Senators Foundation to host Community Clean Up Event

OTTAWA – In partnership with the Ottawa Senators Foundation, Waste Management will host a community clean up event on Wednesday, May 24, at two SENS RINK locations in Ottawa and in Gatineau respectively.

During Wednesday’s event, volunteers from Waste Management and the Ottawa Senators hockey club will work together by collecting waste materials that have accumulated over the winter while cleaning and preparing each site for summer use.

“SENS RINKS are areas for our city’s youth, it’s our duty to provide them with safe and clean spaces to play,” said Danielle Robinson, president and CEO, Ottawa Senators Foundation. “We’re proud to work with great partners like Waste Management to help give area residents parks and community spaces to be proud of.”

“Waste Management is excited to support this community clean-up project with our fleet of compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks,” said Ian McIntyre, District Manager for Ottawa. “Vehicles powered by CNG emit nearly zero particulate emissions, cut smog-producing nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by 50 percent and cut greenhouse gas emissions by over 20 percent. Cleaning our communities is our mission and an integral part of our business.”
