Ferguslea Properties Ltd. Senators Soirée presented by Bell
raises $238,715 for “Top Prospects” across the region
OTTAWA – The Ferguslea Properties Ltd. Senators Soirée presented by Bell, the premier fundraising event of the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club and its Foundation (@sensfoundation), has raised $238,715 in support of children and youth.
Senators owner Eugene Melnyk, players, members of the coaching staff and management team in addition to more than 550 guests met two brothers, Declan and Quinn, who were featured in the Top Prospects awareness campaign which served to highlights the impact the hockey club and its Foundation are contributing to 60,000+ children and youth throughout the region. The brothers spoke about their involvement in the SENS Power Plays program and about how receiving bursaries to offset barriers to sport and recreation, such as registration fees and equipment costs, have improved their lives. They also provided insight as to how the “give-back” portion of the program is a really important element in holding them accountable to pay the assistance they have received forward.
Monies raised at tonight’s event will help the Ottawa Senators Foundation give children and youth, Top Prospects, across the region the opportunity to experience summer camp, to learn how to skate on an outdoor rink, to pursue post-secondary education, and to access physical and mental health treatment from world-class healthcare facilities, all as a result of the generosity of sponsors, guests and donors.
“There is more to this team than what we see on the ice,” said Danielle Robinson, president and chief executive officer, Ottawa Senators Foundation. “We’re working together to create a lasting impact off the ice for kids across the region. With thanks to an assist from the hockey club, its players, alumni, event sponsors and fans, Declan and Quinn, and thousands of other children, will have an opportunity to pursue their goals.”
“The opportunity to meet the players and get to know them and see how much they enjoy giving back is a wonderful experience,” said Barbara Crook on behalf of her husband, Ferguslea Properties president Dan Greenberg. “We are especially proud to sponsor this event and the great work of the Ottawa Senators Foundation. Together, we are making a difference for local children and youth.”
One-of-a-kind experiential auction items were the theme of the evening highlighted by a South African Safari. Other items included a private dinner with the Senators alternate captains, a video game battle with two Senators players and an opportunity to be in the 2019-20 Senators team photo.
