OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators Foundation (@sensfoundation) is pleased to announce that more than $200,000 was raised by participants during the fifth annual Molson Canadian Sens Alumni & NHL Celebrity Cup hockey tournament presented by Bell which was held earlier today at the Bell Sensplex.
Funds raised at today’s event support the ongoing community work of the hockey club, led by the Ottawa Senators Foundation, and promote and help to make child and youth activities that enable both physical and mental wellness accessible through social recreation and education programs.
“We’re very grateful for the work participants put in to be here today”, said Danielle Robinson, president and CEO, Ottawa Senators Foundation. “The total raised is comprised mostly of individual donations and is a testatment to how much the players and donors believe in the work we’re doing and the importance of supporting local children and youth.” I wish to extend our appreciation to the Sens alumni members, Molson, Bell and our sponsors for helping us deliver a memorable experience for all our guests.”
The event featured 14 former NHL and Senators players including Chris Phillips, Chris Neil, Radek Bonk, Larry Robinson, Denis Savard and Steve Thomas. Each player was drafted by a participating team and joined them in a one-of-a-kind, three-game experience. At the end of tournament play, top individual fundraisers formed an All-Star team and competed against the entire alumni roster.
