Ottawa Senators Foundation Telethon raises $100,885 for local children and youth
OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators Foundation (@sensfoundation) announced today that it raised more than $100,885 at the Ottawa Senators Foundation Telethon powered by Mitel (@mitel) which was held Friday at Canadian Tire Centre and on TSN5. Donations were received by mobile, online, phone pledges and at Canadian Tire Centre by fans attending the game.
The Ottawa Senators Hockey Club and its Foundation is breaking down the barriers to sport and giving children a chance to play and attend sumer camp. It gives youth the courage to speak up and have a conversation about their own mental health and the tools to seek the help they may need. In addition, the Foundation supports places like Roger Neilson House, giving children and families access to specialized care when they need it most. They also stand by organizations such as The Organ Project as they advocate for more Canadians to register as organ donors in an effort to decrease wait list times for organ transplantation.
Ottawa Senators players, wives, girlfriends, executives and staff members joined TSN and local media personalities as they came together to make the event possible. Corporate support from Mitel, TSN and Bell Media helped generate awareness and viewers and fans responded pushing the total over the $100,000 mark.
“The standings will change every year but the commitment from the hockey club, its players and alumni to make our community a better place never changes.” said Ottawa Senators Foundation president and CEO Danielle Robinson. “The community rallied around our cause this evening and as a result, thousands of children and youth will benefit from their support, we couldn’t accomplish the work we do without their generosity.”
Donations can still be mailed to the Ottawa Senators Foundation at 1000 Palladium Dr., Ottawa, K2V 1A5, made online at www.sensfoundation.com or by phone at 613-599-0323.
The Ottawa Senators Foundation empowers children and youth to reach their full potential by investing in social recreation and education programs that promote both physical and mental wellness.
